About the Author

Well, here I am. My name's Jacob (Jake) Thomas Cohn. I've always loved poetry, writing, and rap. Let me paint you a quick picture here: I was a goofy young Jewish kid from Belmar, New Jersey. I remember being around thirteen, fourteen years old, and my neighbor showed me Wu-Tang Clan for the first time. I was hooked. I've been a die-hard rap fan ever since. In fact, I loved it so much, I began writing my own rhymes & poetry. I realized this was a passion of mine when I would start writing and look at the clock realizing hours had gone by--it felt like minutes.

I started writing my own verses, lines, etc. when I was probably nineteen or twenty. I had taken a few poetry classes in community college, they were some of my favorite courses. I knew there was a connection.

 

Ever since, I've written a ton over the years. But I never put my art out there. I made my own Soundcloud account, but I only uploaded a few poorly recorded songs. The audio quality is poor, my flow is off, but I believe in what I wrote. I knew this had some substance behind it. I knew I had to get my art out there, somehow. I don't expect or even want to be a rapper, per se (even though I do love spittin' my shit on the mic), but I do love writing rap and poetry. I just love writing. So I needed an outlet to put my content out there.

Fast forward to working at a digital marketing agency, and realizing I could create a brand with what I've been writing over the years. I figured why not take what I know from both school and work, and apply it to my own creativity? Maybe my words will resonate with others, and people will want to hear what I have to say. That'd be kinda cool. I hope you enjoy my blog.
