An excerpt from a rap song I wrote about being myself.

The Law Firm
My dad wants me to join the bar association
I said fuck law dad! Imma create a wicked bars association
'Cuz rhyming be my foundation
Founding fathers figure that I got it
So I'm always blessed with mics doggonit!
Gonna be around awhile like Clint
Tinder making guys feel like they a pimp
But let me tell you ladies something:
They ain't got shit on this shrimp

The above few lines of my song are all about being my own person. My dad always had this idea that I'd be a great lawyer (I wouldn't be), and he always urged as a kid me to give it a shot. The reality is I had no interest in it. I've never had much interest in anything in the corporate world...which kinda sucks sometimes. I've always been into art. I wanted to be a filmmaker growing up. Why did I stop? That's a discussion for another day.
Regardless, I wanted to convey that, being myself means me feeling great (even though that's obviously not always the case), and unapologetically me. The older I get, the less I give a shit, honestly. I used to care about certain things that seemed so important, when they really weren't. All I know, now, is that you need to nurture what's within (yes I'm using my own line here) and love yourself. The rest will fall into place.
I gave a shoutout here to Clint Eastwood, he's been around forever, and it felt right to include a legend in what I was looking to illustrate: that my lines will be around for a long ass time!
