The Rhyme
Extra extra...read all about it!
I'm dishin' out symbolic bars, call me Kurt Vonnegut
Bearded like an animal, intellect level Hannibal
Always terrible but lyrical
Shenanigans with friends helps my poetical frenzy
Killing frequent: Ted Bundy
The must see is maybe how I transform
I win, Tom Brady!
It's Effortless Mastery
With samurai type vision
Via killin' with precision
That I got wisdom
For getting tactical with the flow
Fortunately I know it, so I'll keep going
The cosmos show the universe cursed We gonna need a global hearse Ya heard it here first I burst with the ferocity Of an atrocity Making mockeries While I eat the sushi Moshi Moshi ! -
My Thoughts
This excerpt is actually one of my favorite rhymes I've ever written. There's a lot going on here. Obviously the opening line is a classic line we've all heard for newspaper distribution. I remember thinking about that line and wanting to go off of that phrase.
I'm a huge fan of Kurt Vonnegut. One of the first books I read by him was Cat's Cradle. I loved his style, and how he could make you laugh out loud, yet still have poignant messages about life and death. As a diehard rap fan, I also love artists like MF Doom who pride themselves in their witty symbolic lines. Wu-Tang Clan practically has their own language (i.e. Old Earth = Mother). So I wanted to express my literal love for that here.
If you haven't noticed, I've got a cool beard. And although I am not nearly as smart as Hannibal Lector, I had to name drop him. It's funny, I don't know if it's like this with other writers, but sometimes all this stuff flows out of me at once. I have to just let it happen and tweak afterwords. There's other times where I don't feel like I have a creative bone in my body. But I've learned to try and take advantage of the moment, of the thought, and at the very least write these ideas down on my phone or on a piece of paper.
A lot of inspiration I've had are, like most artists, from real life experiences. I've done a ton of stupid shit with my friends, good and bad, and it's definitely helped shape who I am as a person. For better or worse. Regardless, I have learned a lot from these experiences and I try to write about them in my rhymes and poetry.
I'm a diehard Rams fan, so giving Tom Brady a shoutout is almost sacrilegious. But you gotta give credit where credit's due. He's probably the GOAT, let's be real. If I had 1/64th of his success in life, I'll be thrilled!
Lastly, what can I say, I love samurais. I love Japanese culture. In fact, I'll be traveling to Japan in May 2020. It's always been a dream of mine, as I grew up on anime. Hell, I've got an Akira tattoo on my bicep. I love that shit. So again, a lot of my writings always tie back to who I am as a person, as nerdy as that may be :)
