Featured Artist: Matthew Stegman

A self-published author whose work resonates with the struggles of life, and the need for personal growth.

Author's Biography

Matthew Stegman has been writing since he was a sophomore in high school. He is the author of If Anyone Can Hide it, it's Me and Parallel Universe Me Has No Scars, two self-published poetry collections. Throughout his life, Matthew has always had a passion for literature and art. The Altruistic Hedonist, The Uneducated Prick, he strives every day to be a little better than the last. He hopes that as he continues writing his work mirrors this, that it’s just a little better than his last. Living in Florida, he continues to write and work on his many creative projects. Matthew’s writing will often walk the tightrope balancing between taking itself a tad bit too seriously and playfully being as satirical as it possibly can. When he isn’t writing, he feels as if he no longer exists. Something starts to slip away if he becomes distracted or stagnant for too long. Even then though, he doesn't take it too seriously. “Whatever happens, happens, baby.”

I had a chance to read some of Matthew's work and am thrilled to be able to feature him on R&P! What I really liked about his writings the most was that he's unapologetically himself. When you begin to read his material, it's his words. You know it's coming from him. And that's what makes his writings intriguing to read. Here are a few poems I really enjoyed that he was kind enough to share with me and allow me post.
