A verse on our society

Here's a verse I made from a song I wrote November 2019.

Why's social media so anti-social?
Why are kids killing their peers going postal?
Pivotal moments, memories, are what we, the people must achieve
To make progress
To move forward against the mess
Of the Donalds
Of the Treachery
Wall Street
Kick 'em to the curb with our cleats
Make an impact through rhymes and beats
Maybe that's just me: JTC
A dreamer
A phony
Seeing good in others, some find that funny
I feel bad for them, to never feel empathy
To never feel for another human being
Eek
We're in this together.
When I wrote this, it was kind of just this explosion of pent up thoughts and ideas about what's happening in our society right now. These are just my personal beliefs and feelings toward things, with no political leanings or agendas here.
What I see is that social media is causing kids to be more depressed than ever before. I try to have empathy and think of what it must be like to be a teenager who sees his or her friends out together and they weren't included. I know that would've probably hurt me as a kid. So I can't imagine the societal pressure kids and teenagers have nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of good things have come from social media, but there's certainly a lot of baggage that comes with it.
Kids are coming into schools and shooting their peers. It's happening at an unprecedented rate. We've become numb to it. It's part of our society now, and to be expected. That horrifies me, and I think any rational human being would agree. So a lot of what I'm trying to say here in this verse is, why aren't we all in this together? We have to be a community, no matter what you believe, no matter what color skin you have, sexual orientation, whatever difference. It doesn't matter. It never did. If anything, we need to embrace our changes and love each other for them.
Most people aren't in the extremely wealthy category, so why help or defend these major corporations who don't care about any of us? All of these organizations, all they care about is profit. That's it. Again, a lot of what I'm trying to say here is that we need to make a positive impact somehow. Imagine what would happen if everyone started adopting one positive change in their life each day? Whether it's something as simple as recycling, or holding the door for someone. If we were all a little kinder, maybe that would be the start of the snowball effect we need to really change things for the better, for everyone.
